The Times and The Sunday Times will become the first British newspapers to charge readers to access all online content from June, Rupert Murdoch’s News International has announced.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Wait, let me catch my breath…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
OK – hands up who’s going to pay?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Who wants to bet me that they’ll be free again before the end of the year, or Rupert will be broke? (or both?)
I have too much sense to ever bet against the reverend
King Willy: Dammit! I missed the perfect headline: The Times they aren’t a-changin’
Nurse Myra: Very wise. In this case, my money is as safe as if it was in a suitcase under my bed (because we all know that right now that’s a much safer place to keep it than in the bank).
Hey, this gives me a great idea for a song!
I’ll expect a cut, Bob.
Um, don’t the advertisers pay? As usual with newspapers, online or not. Because if not, WHY ARE PUTTING UP WITH ADVERTISING SHIT?
Phew, just received my daily Cow blessing. Calmed down now.
Glad to see that Sr Veronica is keeping Joey’s Shelf clean.
Queen Willy: People are so completely desensitized to advertising that they forget to ask questions like that. Rupert Murdoch has made himself one of the wealthiest men in the world – he doesn’t give a shit about whether or not you get ‘good’ news. He’s pissed about the online newspaper scenario because he can’t figure out a way to make money out of it. The advertisers are aware of the fact that online advertising doesn’t make them money and he can’t sell the stuff to readers like he can a hard copy newspaper and he’s apoplectic.
Re: Sister Veronica – Yeah, she gives Joey’s trophies a polish every now and then :-)
Yeah, the local paper been trying to do this, so far, I think they only have 3 subscribers
