A Still More Glorious Dawn Awaits

This last week it has been my very great privilege to have experienced two extraordinarily moving works of art. The first was Bill Viola‘s heart-wrenching ‘Ocean Without a Shore’, a new permanent acquisition of the National Gallery of Victoria. Sadly, it is a large installation piece which you must visit in person to fully embrace. The next time you come to Melbourne, I’ll take you there.
The second is a little more modest but just as poignant, and was created by some dude who goes by the name of Colorpulse (and Melody Sheep). I am proud to be able to share it with you here on The Cow.
If ever anyone had any doubts that copylefting can create truly moving experiences and must be allowed and encouraged as a valid form of expression, let this wonderful observation serve as an example.
The surface of the Earth
Is the shore of the cosmic ocean
Recently we’ve waded a little way out
And the water seems inviting
Carl Sagan, we miss you.
Nice anorak Carl
I think you missed the point Nurse Myra.
Moved and delighted. Maybe we could be Akcarlites, too.
What a visionary!
One can almost see a world in which sientists snag totly hot babes!
I am stealing that one from Sheik Yerbouti Friday!
And I would follow Sagan’s relgion anyday!
CARL SAGAN IN ’12! You heard it first!
A great human being.
Oh the Bill Viola is amazing.
I stayed in that room for ages and just let it wash over me – so sad, so beautiful, so memorable.
Melbourne very lucky to have that in the gallery – it should be a must see for any visitor.
Screw th art.
Nex time I come to Melbourne, I want you to intrduce me to Senatr Conroy.
Cissy Strutt: That reminds me that I must resurrect and rejuvenate the Cow’s ‘Society of Treasured Humans’.
Joey: No wonder those scientist guys are fond of those alternate universe theories.
Malach: You’ll give me credit, right?
Queenwilly: Indisputably.
Liz: I’d have love to have seen it in the original installation in Venice, but I’m grateful that we can claim it as a Melbourne wonder now.
Joey: Allow plenty of time. He speaks very slowly and has trouble comprehending concepts that require abstract thought. Or any thought, actually.
Yay autotune.
I’m too old for that level of sonic whozamacallit, apparently. I’d rather read his books. I think. So far I’ve only seen his show as a kid, and worshipped from afar. The apple pie quote is a longtime fave, though. Maybe it’s just too late at night. I’ll try later…
Stick with it to the end JR. It’s an earworm.
