Screwage?

You know how restaurants charge you corkage for uncorking a bottle of wine?†What are they going to charge you for now that wine bottles are using screw caps a lot more frequently?
†This ridiculous practice may not occur in other countries.
Probably happens but isn’t itemized. Ignorance might not be bliss, but it does cut down on gratuitous corkage. Possibly.
Ya mite hafta pay fer some guy t stand nex t th waitr an stick his fingr in his mouf an make a cork-poppin sound wile th waitrs unscrewin.
I dont no … I mite pay xtra t see that. A ridickulous practice ought t be laffable as well.
I was just thinking this the other night at a restaurant, which charged $2 per person for ‘corkage’, and the wine bottles were both screw-tops that didn’t touch the waitress’s hands all night. I suppose they’d retort they have to dispose of the bottles.
Screwage is the word.
I don’t drink at all, so I don’t know. But I do know that, if you’re celebrating a birthday at their restaurant, and someone brings a cake, they charge you a fee for cutting it. And, no, you’re not allowed to cut it yourself.
All illustrations of the generous spirit of the times in which we live.
I like it when I take my dogs to the vet and I get a disposal fee for having their toenail trimmings swept up. It’s a “bio hazardous waste disposal” fee. The next time I took them in, I told the vet to leave their nails alone and he said he always trims an animals nails when he sees them. Just a way to sneak in that fee, I say.
Only slightly off-topic… someone found my weblog today – via search engine – using the words Anaglyph and porn. It’s okay though; they linked through to here.
I hope they were satisfied…
I should do a post on 3D porn pictures just to keep those people happy!
